2ND LEAGUE RACE IS FINISHED! AND WE’RE FEELING VERY PROUD OF OUR TEAM!

Finally finished the 2nd League Race of 2019! We are all exhausted but can still feel the excitement from yesterday!

Despite the harsh conditions of the weather we’ve given all we got! You guys should see our faces as they’re all super red (Pro Tip: Sun Protection is essential when paddling in Hong Kong, don’t underestimate the power of the sun!)

2ND LEAGUE RACE IS FINISHED! AND WE’RE FEELING VERY PROUD OF OUR TEAM!

Now let’s go over the results together, shall we?

First off is the Elite 6km race! Because this is the 2nd league race of the year, the Elite category is 6km long instead of 4km like last time. Although team Whatzsup has plenty of experience with regard to sprint distance paddling, the race has proven to be very challenging even for the top paddlers because of the heat and strong side wind conditions.

Nevertheless, our team has taken up to the challenge and was able to gain some of the top positions in the Open Male & Male O35 groups!

Jack Seymour, our youngest and brightest team rider, with his 425 board, got 3rd place in his group and finished the 6km race in just 40 mins 48 secs! Our two other seasoned team riders Edmund Lai and Bryan Ng were right behind the pack and got 5th and 6th place respectively in the same group as well, despite of the heat and wind conditions.

Buddy Weeks, our seasoned veteran performed superbly and got 1st place in the Male O35 group, over 2 mins ahead of the 2nd place paddler!

For the 200m sprint race, the team still performed admirably even after the exhausting 6km race. Jack came 4th place with Edmund Lai followed right behind in 5th place in the Male Open Group! In the Male O35 group the competition was no less fierce but team paddler Franki Ng was still able to grab a second place and head straight to the podium!

Needless to say, we were very proud of our team and can’t wait for the other races coming this year!

What races you might ask? In case you don’t know we’ve got the Hong Kong International SUP Championship and the 2019 Asia SUP Tour Hong Kong Station coming up in August! And of course, we still got 2 more league races in July and September respectively.

Besides the local races, we will also send out some team paddlers to other countries to compete! Some of those races include the Korea Station & Japan Station of the Asia SUP Tour 2019! We can’t wait to meet paddlers from around the world and to exchange tips and info everything related to SUP.
